Alan Borwell (82), loving husband to Kath and father to Susan and Stephen, sadly died earlier this year. He was still in his workshop trying to complete customer orders two weeks before Christmas, but his health deteriorated and was taken into hospital on Christmas Day. Alan died on 17th January and his funeral took place at Rawdon Crematorium, Leeds, on 31st January 2011. Alan is sadly missed, not only by his family and friends, but also by his many customers, some of whom attended his funeral in Rawdon. The family would like to thank all those who attended and for the many condolence cards and flowers.
Alan, a Master Craftsman, had worked with wood since he was four years old. He ran a successful business making one off quality fitted kitchens for more than 25 years until a back injury prevented him from continuing then Borcraft Miniatures was born. Alan provided dolls house enthusiasts with top quality craftsmanship for 30 years and his work has been purchased by customers all over the world.
Sadly we will not be making any new products, however we do still have some stock left which we wish to dispose of whilst we look for a buyer for the business. The web site will still continue to operate for the foreseeable future and orders can still be placed on line but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to supply everything you have requested. We will email customers and advise which items we cannot supply and if we can provide alternatives, we will notify you. Customers will only be charged for items we can supply. The web site does not take ‘live’ payments; it is simply a secure method of recording customer information. We process transactions in the office.
Susan, will be exhibiting at one or two shows this year in an attempt to sell off any remaining stock. Please continue to check the “Fair Dates” on this web site.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all their customers for their support over the last 30 years and to let them know that it is with the greatest sadness that we close our doors.
The family plans to sell the 4 bedroom detached house with garage, workshop, office and showroom, however it is likely that the business will be sold separately, so it could be relocated anywhere within the UK at the buyer’s expense. Alternatively we will consider selling the house with garage, workshop, office, showroom and business together if anyone is seriously interested. There is sufficient office and showroom space to run another business alongside the woodworking operation.
We are expecting offers over £40,000 for the business which will include all machinery, stock, web site, office equipment, 8,000 customer database, drawings, cutting lists, jigs and cutters for 200 different mouldings, the exhibition stand, along with all intellectual property. It will not include the company name. This is a registered name and will remain with the family.
Only seriously interested parties should contact Sue Borwell in the first instance by email: sue@borcraft-miniatures.co.uk with FULL contact details, including an address and telephone number.
Please Note: We are no longer able to take credit or debit cards via our online shop or over the phone. If there are items you wish to order please ring or email to find out if they are in stock and we will advise the cost including postage and packing. We would ask that you send a cheque for the value of the goods and we will despatch on receipt of the cheque.
We will be exhibiting one last time at Thame Dolls House Fair on 18th February 2012. Please check out the details on our FAIRS page
